As a Commercial Operations Intern at Singer Vehicle Design, I worked across multiple departments, including sales, operations, and client experience, to enhance business strategies and optimize internal processes.
My projects ranged from developing a predictive sales model based on global market trends to refining operations for Singer’s luxury watch division. Throughout the summer, I worked extensively with Salesforce’s software, gaining confidence in its tools to pull reports, update records, and analyze data for my plethora of projects.
Beyond my core projects, I had the opportunity to assist at high-profile events, such as Cars & Coffee gatherings and Porsche Experience Center activations, further immersing myself in the world of high-end automotive craftsmanship.
One of my most rewarding projects was a deep-dive data analysis of Singer’s sales to predict future trends and opportunities, where I created new models to account for historical sales, Ultra High Net Worth Individual (UHNWI) data by country, and quarterly trends. Combine historical sales and lead data, global and regional sales forecasts and historical conversion rates to generate lead targets by region/market for the next few years.
This project involved exporting a plethora of Salesforce reports, researching sales trends in automotive, and comparing year-over-year and quarterly sales and leads data to figure out trends within Singer's sales. I incorporated outside data, such as statistics on high-net worth individuals, as well as Singer's homologation in multiple countries to pinpoint areas that needed a greater sales presence. The final Excel spreadsheet had various formulas, fillable cells, and could be updated with new reports from Salesforce as more data became available.
The Singer Vehicle Design Client Portal is a website designed for Singer restoration owners/purchasers to view their photos/documents, brainstorm specification for their car, and learn more about the company & its processes. The portal currently has few issues in functionality, but there are several improvements that can increase client usage, and therefore reduce the frequency by which they reach out to CXMs and spec managers for simple questions.
My final analysis is the result of comprehensive analysis of the portal and contains present issues and future suggestions to enhance the interface and improve the user’s experience when interacting with the portal.
I also had the opportunity to assist with an operational rework in Salesforce for Singer’s luxury watch division, Singer Reimagined.
Create a coding system to classify all paints– including Singer-specific paints, PTS(paint to sample), OEM formulas, and bespoke requests.
Throughout the summer, I participated in a handful of client/prospect tours of our facility. Assisting on these tours offered me valuable insight into the other side of the Client Journey, and I absolutely loved seeing the shock and awe on people’s faces when they entered the production floor for the first time.
Additionally, I helped represent Singer at multiple weekend events, including Cars & Coffee in Orange County and at the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles.
As part of Singer’s Internship Competition Series, I had the chance to sharpen my business acumen through a two-part pitch competition designed to challenge interns with real-world business problems. Since Cal Poly operates on the quarter system, I joined Singer a month later than the other interns, meaning my first presentation took place during my second week on the job. Despite not having contributed to the project itself, I made sure to create slides and present alongside my team—though we ultimately placed last.
Determined to improve, I took on a leadership role for the final project, a three-part marketing strategy aimed at expanding Singer’s global presence. While our initial workflow created communication challenges—particularly as the only non-engineering intern on my team—I adapted to my teammates' schedules and refined how we collaborated. Our efforts paid off, and we secured second place, a significant leap from our first attempt and a testament to growth, adaptability, and teamwork.
